Jan. 23rd, 2007 10:22 pmjust watched the state of the union address. my first thought is that gwb has damn good speechwriters. no reflections at this time. the final count, as near as i can figure:
nucular - 3
Iran - 5
terr, terrist, terrize, etc. - 23
looks of utter surprise when he actually pronounced a multisyllabic word - too many to count
eta: actually, one reflection. he mentioned iran just enough to make me really, really nervous. i mean, i knew it was coming. but i was hoping it wouldn't. i've heard the theory that this whole iraq thing has been a containment issue all along - surround iran with american allies/loci of control, then go in for the prize. as much as i really do believe the president of iran is a scary, scary person, he also seems like a very smart person, and i would imagine he's seen this coming for a long time. i expect a denunciation of the SOTU within 48 hours, max. but the denunciation isn't important. what happens in the next six months is.
